Hi,

I have a friend who has a USB Air Card/Modem (UDM-680). He want's me to set-up a wireless hotspot in his office so that anyone w/a laptop can connect.

He has a wireless router (ctr500 cradlepoint) with a usb port for the modem but I've messed with it for 3 days, about 19 hrs., and i still cannot get the thing to see the modem and dial out to the net.
It's a real nice router...if it worked. The site says that it supports the modem and carrier so it should be PnP but it is not. I'm gonna go over there in a bit and see about updating the modem and firmware, maybe but i'm getting sick of it, but I remember the firmware for the router is up to date and it shouldn't be this hard and a waste of time.

So

He also has a wireless cisco router, don't know model I'm home now, but I assume that it has an Ethernet input port. I've looked for a USB to Ethernet adapter but didn't see one. Any one know of one ?

Thanks

BTW: He just bought an Emachines w/Win 7 on it and I'm kinda inclined to go at the ctr500 some more. I hope i can get some help here.

Close Lemur. I should have specified a USB B-male connector to Ethernet.

Thanks

That's not it. I have a USB modem and I need to plug it into an Ethernet port on a router.
I looked at many of the geeky bookmarks I have but someone should have it, I mean get a clue manufacturers, there are way many USB modems and many Ethernet routers...DUH. I looked alot and only found 1 router that would accept a USB signal.

Thanks

I've been outa life too long.

The adapter that I was looking for; Sabrent USB 2.0 Extension Cable to Cat5e Extender Adapter for anybody who wants too know. I think I saw it at amazon.

and as for the routers accepting a USB input, they are called 3G routers.

Boy do I feel stupid.
