Today while using my HTC Tattoo, which uses the andriod platform, for listening to music (iPod packed up yesterday) i thought about what a Google Media Library program would be like/look like.

I would really love to see internet giant Google, create one. Although they havent made many user programs - that said the ones ive used (Earth, SketchUp) are really nice to use. It would rival the media giant Apple's iTunes - but i think a Media Library program by Google could be much much better than iTunes.

I've used iTunes for, well, 5 years maybe now? And although we have this understandable relationship with each other - it still at times can be a right pain in the ass to use. There are alot of flaws with iTunes, which i would love to see changed. Im also sort of fed up with its layout - its so boring, its been like that since v7.0 pretty much; surely it needs an update.

So yeah, would you like to see Google rival Apple with a Media Program that could be better than iTunes?

I understand there would be big issues with iPod compatibility - but how about Google also bring out a new media device... running on Android (i love that OS) that is hell of a lot better than iPods! Maybe the feature of deleting things on the go, creating playlists, editing ID3 tags, a Custom EQ!!!!

(I know theres Media Player and WinAmp - but they just aren't for me tbh - could never get used to their interfaces!)

Lately I am becoming more and more frustrated with iTunes. I have turned off auto-updating of the software, yet twice it has "upgraded" itself, each time creating additional copies of music that I can't get rid of, or even music I swear I deleted... I just moved my music onto this computer, and out of 9200 songs, over 1000 were triple duplicated again.

Please, Google, make a sweet music media manager/player!

I absolutely hate iTunes, its only redeeming quality is the fact that its catalog is the biggest I have seen. If Google (or anyone else) were to create a music service with as large a catalog, it almost certainly would have to be better than iTunes.

Built my first computer (8Mhz 8088cpu, 640K RAM, 20MB HDD, 2 360K floppy drives) in 1985 and have been building them for myself, relatives and friends ever since.
I dunno. I'm a PC but I must admit I've never had a real issue with iTunes. It has always worked well with my iPhone and it manages my library very well.

I would love to see that. The main reason: it would have to work with Ubuntu/Debian, Mac OS X, and Windows. Now that would be worth it! Not to mention iTunes slowness. Also it has to support the original iPod Touch and others.....
