Solved Access denied on dvd drive

[PSCO2007]

Just started - upon clicking dvd drive, message says "may not have permission."

I can right click and open and play the movie, so drive is operable.

I went into registry and followed directions to delete lower filter. - no change.

I checked permissions and that is OK as well.

I also uninstalled drive and rebooted.

Also did a System Restore.

Also ran scan -- http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

It seems to be caused by message "files ready to be written, but I can't seem to delete it.


Since I can play dvds, it's not a big problem, but I would like to know why this has suddenly happened and how to correct it.

Tried that long ago - no such message on page.

Changed permissions and that message is now gone.

Although this seems like a temporary problem, I can open the dvd -this is the Harem Tour Concert-one of the greatest I have ever watched- watching her perform Nessun Dorma is thrilling.
Much better than that Rap Crap!!


I changed the permissions and now the "no permissions" message is gone, but a new one has taken its place -

Not sure what it means since I have set VLC as default.

I followed Microsoft directions to correct this, but no change.

Where did you get the DVD from?
Did you or a friend make the DVD?
Do other DVD work properly?

It's my own dvd. (my own copy)

Doesn't matter what dvd I insert - store-bought or not - same message appears.

Doesn't happen on my laptop and never happened before on the PC either.

Can you change the default to Windows Media Player and see if it works?

Already tried that - changed it to every player I have.

I haven't done a fresh install in over three years and will be doing one soon - that'll show 'em.!!

Do you or have you ever used products by IObit?
That includes Advanced System Care.

A long shot; but try playing a little Pavarotti and see if that fixes it.

YES - installed it last week.

You think that is the problem?

The reason I ask is because I also installed it on my laptop and have no problems with dvd drive working properly.

I think I made a mistake - the program I installed is -- Advanced Uninstaller PRO | A Swiss Army Knife for PC Users

This isn't related to Iobit, is it?

Well my mistake at post #4 I read that as solved but apparently not but looks like itcan be handled without any input from me.

Windows 7 does not want such programs or need such programs.
It could very easy be your problem.
I would not have such programs on my computers.

The big problem is once you remove the program you really don't know if it fixes the problems it has created.

I'm thinking that IObit is spreading out with their Advance programs under another name. I can't prove it but it does have a smell about it.

I only use the uninstall and remove temp files feature, but as I said, it had no effect on my laptop dvd drive.

This is a scan I ran just now- nothing involves anything in Registry.

Found the answer.

I turned off WMC and WMP and rebooted and turned back on and rebooted again, and the drive now works properly.

Have no idea why, but happy about it.
