Solved HP Compaq 6710b weird DVD drive buzzing sounds

Hello.

I have an HP Compaq 6701b and its DVD drive is acting up..

It happens when it tries to read and when it initializes on Boot.
It makes a low pitch buzz and when its happenign when a disk is being read, the motor halts for a split second, and therefore it wont read correctly.

Is this a problem with the Motor or the Laser?

Is it fixable or i should just seek a replacement?

I would just replace it. They don't cost much.

i already have... i found a compatible drive from an old fujistu amilo. I was just wondering if i could repair the original drive..

I couldn't help you there. I wouldn't but to each their own. Look for a tutorial on youtube.
