Access Denied

I had some work done on my system which involved reinstalling the OS. Now I have several folders that contain documents and software that says "access denied" when I clicked on it. I am the principal user and need to have access to these files. Any suggestions?

Which folders are you asking about? Are they those that you created?

My educated guess is that our thread starter may have been in the Libraries / My Documents User's Documents sections -- which definitely have many folder off limits, no access, denied, to end-users, because of a very geeky Windows reason -- of which I have no idea how to explain. One poster elsewhere indicated that many folders are "in-house bridges" used only by Windows Prime.

The folders in question are in my User folder. They include Application Data, Cookies, Local Settings, My Documents (one of two folders), Net Hood, Print Hood, Send To, Start Menu and Templates. I've never created any of these folders.

The folders those you quoted are not real folders but Junctions that are used to allow legacy software to interface with Windows 7 folder structure. They are usually hidden as protected operating system folders/files.

If you open a regular command prompt and type Dir /as, you will see the junctions and what they point to.

From experience, one of the fastest ways to reach for my restorable OS partition backups was to "adjust" junctions or even touchable folders in the Users [acct name] folder.
