so... what if i specify the search rang from 0 to the start of partition 2, would it find anything or just nothing

Let it recover partition 2,3,4. After that try to recover in "unallocated space" only. But it will find nothing!

Partition is 750GB So 750*1024*256 clusters of 4KB each. so total of 196 608 000 clusters!! A 400kB file uses 100 out of 196 608 000 clusters!! But you don't know which ones. Recovery software don't know anymore:

• file names
• is it a doc, xls, jpg file
• size of file
• blocks it uses

Can you reconstruct 10000 puzzles out of 196 608 000 pieces? All pieces are same size and square and you don't know how the puzzles look like.

Impossible as far as I know

I just read details about NTFS... The MFT mirror is most likely still on disk. And maybe can be recovered.

He did "diskpart clean" which did zero 1MB of physical disk. Afterwards he tried to recover the partitions using PW. It only found partition 2,3,4 and some fake 3MB partitions. He did recover one of the real partitions (I think partition 2). As far as I know he didn't do anything with the problem partition.

OP please confirm

I'm wondering what he ran before running PW Recovery Wizard, which might have interfered. I thought he as running it and find out a day later he was running other apps first.

In the past after Clean command PW Partition Recovery wizard was able to recover the entire disk, as I recall, including the boot sector.

Ok i ran findandmount. Testdisk and minitool power power data recovery and the one sujjested by you

I don't know if those would interfere or confuse PW Wizard. SIW2 might know for sure. Work with Kaktussoft to try to recover the MFT.

So im running zar and i dont knlw what to interprate. It is at 1% and all i can see is data fragments and 2 file structers which are not at the start they are about 6 blocks down

I had to restart the zar because my hdd got unplugged when i was plugging something into my htpc...

I will post a screenshot later as i am curremtly using synergy and i havnt got internet set up on the htpc

Why you're doing other things that interfere with ZAR? It's a process that takes hours! Do you have enough free space on internal disk to restore the recovered pictures?

Post a screenshot when ZAR is trying to recover for about half an hour. Also write down when recovery starts and when it's at 5% percent. Then you can predict when it will finish.

Yes.. I have 350 gb free.It has been running for 26 mins and is at 3%. I will keep an eye on it
