This has got me in trouble big time!
First I created a fake account called admin.
Then I went to regedit and tweaked a bit since i wanted to hide my account whenever somebody else wanted to use my laptop.I wanted it so that it will be hidden from the control panel and everything else too WITHOUT DISABLING IT.Of course both accounts need to be admins if i wanted to reverse the changes(i knew that anybody else which entered could reverse this change if they knew regedit but.....I was confident that nobody else in the house is a tech nerd.)

I went to :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Winlogon\
and created:\Special Accounts\UserList
I created two DWORDS and wrote my account name and put it's value 0 so it's hidden and typed the account name "admin" which i created before and changed it to 1.
It worked like a charm.I logged off,my account was hidden and there was this admin account only.I entered this and the i went to change the numbers vice versa so my account will be visible and this account will be hidden but i realised that the admin account i created was a STANDARD ACCOUNT!and so, just like that i was locked out of my own account by the security system I PROGRAMMED!
Sorry but i already disabled the original Administrator account before i knew this trick because i didn't want that account to be visible at startup too.
So that's the deal.Long story short,Administrator Account disabled,My account hidden, and some fake standard account is the only thing left,No other choice but to format?HELP!

Hi,

Until someone more experienced comes along, have you considered a repair install?

The accounts are kept as it is in a repair install right?I think repair installs are if you get a file in the Windows deleted or something.Since my windows still work correctly,I don't think that it will do anything.....(Just my Guess,Correct me if i'm Wrong:confused:)

Ah, yes you could be right. Have you tried a restore point prior to when you made the changes?

hey there,

try if this works:
1.create a shortcut to "regedit"
2.right click it and select "run as"
3.login as the hidden admin account and change/delete the key you created

hope this helped ;)

Easier option here, Since your Running Ultimate,

go start, - type CMD in the search bar

Type Control Userpasswords2

Click the Advanced Tab

Advanced Button

users folder,

Then double click the user that is standard at the moment,

click the Member of Tab

Add

Type Administrators.

Reboot the pc and the account will now be an Admin.

No need to Format, and easily done as i know that standard users can access this xD

Good Luck

Edit *********************

This may not work for all users, mine allows me to for some reason.

You could also try the Built in Admin Account By Doing a Safe Boot into windows 7, Pressing F8 whilst Booting will allow you to do this.

Once in the Admin just remove your registry hacks.

OR...

Start Orb>Search box>type: netplwiz [enter]
Click on Continue (or supply an administrator's password) when prompted by UAC

Have Fun, I may Not Reply as i work Often. If they Work Let us Know if they Don't Let Us Know

@Golden:I do not have admin privileges which is needed to restore.Ironic through, i named it admin.....hehehe
@Windows Sniper:Admin Privileges again.I guess it just doesn't work on this.Too good to be true for my pc.The F8 one i know but it will still show the same welcome screen and since i disabled the original admin sometime before this "incident" and i "accidentally" hid(and locked myself out)of the account,no way it can work.
@dutchdarky:There is no run as.only run as administrator which obviously needs administrator privileges.
@fafhrd : don't even remind me about that fail disk.I am a bit of a hacker so i thought I'd try it on my old xp pc sometime a few months ago.it broke my pc.kept restarting again...and again...and again.(was able to fix it(last configuration that worked method) anyway irrelevant)and anyway that comment and my comment is completely irrevelant to the topic.seems you misunderstood.I know the password,no way to ACCESS it.
@Orbital Shark:The link to the download or something doesn't work,if you type it in cmd manually access denied and if this program magically gives you admin powers to replace cmd and magnifier then why can't you just simply write net user administrator /active:yes and isn't that it?why waste your time if not to exaggerate replacing cmd with some other program and making a jigsaw puzzle?I'm confused...(really,not sarcastic)

I guess you are not into reading instructions like: Offline NT pw & reg-editor, walkthrough

- - - - User Edit Menu:
1 - Clear (blank) user password
2 - Edit (set new) user password (careful with this on XP or Vista)
3 - Promote user (make user an administrator)
(4 - Unlock and enable user account) [seems unlocked already]
q - Quit editing user, back to user select
Select: [q] > 1
Password cleared!

Just thought that it may have helped you. :)
