Thanks, it seems that I have all the 64bits drivers...it is now the matter of 32 bit or 64 bit...since I only have 3GB or ram and have no intention of upgrading the ram to 4GB, don't want to spend any more money on this laptop....what do you think? tia

I was running 64 bit edition of Windows 7 with just 2 GB. of RAM some time ago and I never had any single problem. :p
But, it often depends on the use. I used to play games, browse internet, use heavy download managers like JDownloader, etc. and just used up to 1,2 GB. from 1,75 GB. I had free (discounted amount of shared memory for video).
Other factor is that some people doesn't want 64 bit editions because some unknown manufacturer doesn't program drivers for some strange/creepy hardware we could have, like rare printers, cheap webcams, etc.
I haven chosen 64 bit Windows 7 because I like his performance and security and the unique things I used to connect to my notebook are pen drives, carry disks, DS/MS cards, gamepads and a Sony PSP. Everything works more than perfect with all that. :)
Again, it depends on what you want to do with your laptop. Choose wisely. ;)

Went with 64 bit since I will be using mostly for Internet browsing, DVD watching (Power DVD 9) and some work (open office) while I am on the move in a hotel. Won't play games with this laptop because of its weak graphic card, my desktop will handle that. Thanks again....btw I notice an odd thing with 32bit and 64bit, when it was with 32bit (3GBa nd only PowerDVD open watching a movie for 5 minutes) Resouce manager reported that I have only around 50MB of the 3GB free.....with 64bit...same situation, Resource manager report I have around 600MB physical memory free. Not sure what's happening maybe 64bit handle memory more effiecient?

It's nearly impossible that having only PowerDVD9 open your system have just 50 MB. free!
I used to use lots of open applications in my Aspire 4520 with just 2 GB. of RAM and hardly with all those applications can use 1,5 GB. of RAM and without page file enabled. There could be something wrong with your laptop.
Can you post screenshots of your task manager to see open process and performance sections? If you can can post services section, much better. :)

50MB free was with 32bit, I no longer have it installed, it is now with 64bit.

Ok... something wrong with the 32 bit edition you've installed, 'cause 64 bits edition takes more RAM than his 32 bits equivalent.
Anyway... you're stilll having just 600 MB. free of 3 GB. with the 64 bits edition. I think there is too much RAM being used just for a fresh install.
Are you using some special application that uses all that RAM?

Some were on standby, anyway maybe it is because I am using PowerDVD 9 playing 720p AVCHD and I have video card hardware encoding disabled and use PD9 internal software encoder, I found the PQ of the movie look much sharper with PD9 internal encoder.

That's for sure... the "power" of a GeForce 7000M about hardware accelerations are pretty low.
Anyway, I've never used PowerDVD 9 before, so I'll give it try... just to know if it's possible that it is such a memory hog like you say it could be.
I'll be back later with the results. ;)
