Acer Revo 3600 graphics need to increase the resolution

Hi I have been using a revo 3600 for years as a headless server.
I usually use remote desktop to connect to it when I go to change resolution it says I am set at 1600x1200 which is fine for me.
I just recently tried to use an old monitor which is capable of 1920x1200 keyboard and mouse to connect directly to the Revo
But the display is fixed at 800x600 which is hopelessly large!
I don't understand this at all.
Can someone tell me why this is happenning or have a workaround for this please?

I just had time at last to try that link but there was no such setting in my reg

Does it show any other resolutions when you go into display settings?

unfortunately No.
it's seems so odd that when I remote desktop into it it shows 1600x1200 but if i connect this monitor to it I just get one choice 800x600?

Do you have the proper graphics driver installed?

ah ! never thought of that. silly but the graphics has never worried me before. I'll see what I can find . It's a very Old pc now though.
