Acer T230H monitor - Driver code 10 error...

Hi guys,

I recently bought an Acer T230H touch screen monitor. I connected it all up as normal as well as the USB port on the monitor which plugs into any USB on my comp to handle the touch screen capabilities. When I started up, Windows downloaded the driver for it but it doesn't install it properly. It says "Device driver software was not successfully installed".

I go to device manager and it is listed under Human Interface Devices. The icon has the yellow exclaimation mark indicating that there is a problem. I've tried re-installing the driver. I have also uninstalled and then re-installed the USB devices. I have tried doing it all in Windows XP and the exact same problem occurs in that as well. When I look at the properties of the device. It says: This device cannot start. (Code 10)

The driver manufacturer looks to be Quanta Computers Inc. I have searched and searched everywhere for a different driver, but have no luck. I have downloaded a file from Acer for this monitor, but it is an .INF file listed in their driver section for this monitor, but it doesn't do anything and I'm not sure how to use it.

Can anyone help?

hi i have the t230h too and my usb is working very good.

but i have another question: when i turn the monitor off but leave it on the electricity it makes a sound when i go with my ear at his backside...

is it by yours too???

So you didn't have any problems with the drivers?

Are you able to send me the driver you have for your monitor?

I have turned mine off from the front button and listened to it, but couldnt hear anything like you mentioned.

I still can't get this thing working...

no i had no problems...i just installed the driver from the cd and made an update with it...
then i saw that nvidia system control found the t230h and all works..

are u sure that u couldnt hear anything?? i have a friend and he have the same sound like me.
u turned off from the button is good, but was u with your ear at the backside??
the sound is very quiet...i hear it at the backside at the top...in that plastik bars...
plz check it out?? im scared that my monitor is defect :-(

Hey, I tried it again and it's perfectly quiet. There is no sound at all. There is no sound when it's on either...the sound you might be hearing may be the inbuilt speakers, which are located at the top at the back of the monitor.

Are you able to upload the driver you have on your disc for me to download? My monitor didn't come with a driver on it's disc and the one it downloads off the net doesn't seem to work. It's really frustrating having this monitor and not being able to use the touch functionality, which is why I bought it in the first place.

If you could do this, it would really help me out.

Hello, I also have the same Acer t30h with windows 7 and have the same error code as you. Specifically (Code 10).

Samunator, I tried downloading the link you put on Rapidshare and I can not download anything.

Glad I'm not the only one with the problem. I still can't resolve it. I tried downloading the driver from your samunator, but I can't log in...are you able to upload to a place which doesnt require a login etc? Like your personal webspace?

Addressing the buzz in the monitor first . . . you might be hearing one of three possibilities. You may be hearing a high voltage arc. Sometimes when this happens, there is a smell of ionized air (ozone) that accompanies it. Secondly you may be hearing the mechanical resonance of a transformer in the monitor. Occasionally the iron core gets loose relative to the windings that encompass it and you get a buzz. Sometimes it is a low frequency 60 cycle buzz. Thirdly your sound port may not be terminated (connected) solidly with a miniature stereo jack allowing 60 Htz (cycles) to be picked up. By the way, it is advisable to put your post in a separated thread unless it specifically relates to the original posters thread. Perhaps you feel it does.

When I started up, Windows downloaded the driver for it but it doesn't install it properly. It says "Device driver software was not successfully installed".

Generally speaking, it is critical that the software (drivers) be installed prior to physically connecting any hardware. You may have got the cart before the horse in this case.

Go to device manager and remove the item with the yellow exclamation mark. Shut the computer completely down in the proper systematic way.

The INF in .INF stands for installation file. Find the location of this file on your computer. Start the computer and when the driver begins to install, select have disk and navigate to the location of the installation file and click on the file.

You might see if you can get in a phone call to the manufacturer. Let us know how it goes.

I get the same problem when using Windows XP as well. Also tried Vista and it didn't work either...

I am using a ASUS last generation.
I have tried on multiple computers, and Apple even WIN ULTIMATE 7, 7 PRO WIN, WIN 7 home, WIN VISTA, ETC, realmete this makes me desperate.

I have not tested any x64've only tested on x86, specifically with Win7 HOME, BUSINESS AND ULTIMATE, WIN VISTA X86 also and I did not even see anything getting profits that theoretically offers TACTILES this monitor.
