Solved Acronis True Image 2011 sleep/standby post command question

Hi
Would someone be able to tell me step by step instructions on how to set up TI 2011 so that when it has finished its back up task it will return to Hybrid Sleep mode.

i know it goes in the post command box but dont know what to type in there and also what to put in the other boxes!!

I just cant seem to get it right

You can try this command:
C:\Windows\System32\psshutdown.exe -d -t 00
for me this command did sleep the PC using a CMD window.

I also found this command
rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState
in tutorial http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/61430-sleep-shortcut-create.html
for me, this command did a hibernate, and i use Hybrid sleep...

I tried these from "Run..." on the Start Orb, not Acronis.

Thanks i cant get the first one to work, maybe its because im using windows 7 64 bit

The second one works as its supposed to but when i try nd set it up in Acronis it just brings up a shutdown box and then just sits there!!

Any further help would be great.

Are you logged in with an Admin account when you are running the Acronis backup (and testing this) ?

I tested this on Win7 Pro 64 bit, so i don't think 64 bit is an issue.
Does it give any kind of error message?

I wondered how Acronis would work with these commands...

Can you search your C: drive for "psshutdown.exe" (without the quotes)?

I have this program in "C:\windows\system32", and i don't think i ever did anything special to put it there...

For whatever reason, you may have the program somewhere else, or not at all...

Here is where i found it.....

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\SysinternalsSuite\psshutdown

Then try changing this command
C:\Windows\System32\psshutdown.exe -d -t 00

to this command
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\SysinternalsSuite\psshutdown -d -t 00

and see if that runs...
if that doesn't run, change "psshutdown" to "psshutdown.exe"

You might have your explorer options set to hide files, and that's why you don't see this program anywhere else...

Ok , if i put this

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\SysinternalsSuite\psshutdown.exe -d -t 00

in a CMD prompt it still doesn't work, yet if i type it into a run command it works fine?

Does this sound right?

Still having problems incorporating the above into True image, i have attached a screen shot with what i thought should be in the boxes but it wont work, this is driving me nuts!!! :-(

try these settings.

Command:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\SysinternalsSuite\psshutdown.exe

Working directory - leave this blank

Arguments:
-d -t 00


You may even be able to put the Arguments in the Command so the only box you would use is the Command with:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\SysinternalsSuite\psshutdown.exe -d -t 00

Either way you should be able to click "Test Command" to see if it works without running the backup...

not good news, the only way i could get it to do anything was setting it up like below.

But although it would allow me to test the command it didn't actually do anything, even after running a back up :-(

I tested this on a Win7 32bit system logged in with "ADMIN" and it worked for me.
I'm using Acronis TI 2009.

The screen print below is what I see after pushing "Test command" and waking up the PC.

It also worked when I ran the backup - the PC went to sleep.

I'm not sure why it doesn't work for you if you use the command:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\SysinternalsSuite\psshutdown.exe

Thanks for all your help & patience David, i have now managed to get it running, had to use a slightly different set up to yours but wouldn't have been able to do it without your help.

Im hoping you are still watching this thread, just one more quick question, if i change the argument from -d -t 00 to -d -02 will that mean that the pc will shut down 2 minutes after it completes the task??

Hi Peter,

If you want to delay the shutdown by 2 minutes (120 seconds),
i think you need to change the argument from -d -t 00 to -d -t 120

here is the documentation i found for the "-t" option

Countdown in seconds until the shutdown (default: 20 seconds) or the time of shutdown (in 24 hour notation)

give that a try...
