Hi,

My boss just got me a new computer, which runs Windows 7. My old computer was running on XP and was loaded with a genuine version of MS Office Professional 2007 (French).

I did some research to confirm that MS Office 2007 does in fact work on Windows 7, so the transfer can be done. However, I was wondering if it is possible to have an English version of Office 2007 if I download it from the Web and use my box set activation key (instead of installing from the disc, which otherwise would be in French)?

Thanks,
Peatawn

Have you checked under languages in "options" settings of Office 2007 to see if you can change from French to English. I have Office Pro 2013 & using options & selecting languages I see there are other languages which when selected will take you to Microsoft where you can purchase other language packs which would save you the trouble of a complete reinstall of Office 2007. This might be worth investigating.

I have done research on the subject and found out that Office 2007 installs in the language of the OS. My Windows is in English but still it installed in French. Then I did more research and found out that my "Locale language" in Windows has to be in English for all users, the login screen, current user and keyboard settings. So I fixed all that. Uninstalled office, rebooted my PC and reinstalled Office. It was still in French.

Office has a tool to set the editing language of Office programs. I added "English - Canada" and "English - US" and set them both as default (two different tests). I also remove "French". But Office still remains in French and when I check this tool again, French has come back. And since I changed my Windows locale language, the Office tool for language has a mention beside French that says it is limited.
