Solved add digital output/input in realtek alc888b/alc887

hi i have a Gigabyte H61M-S1 motherboard and i downloaded a sound driver from the manufacturers site but i cant seem to find how to add a digital output/input

The only way to get digital would be to install a separate sound card that had digital I/O jacks. There are none on the motherboard. The other obvious option would be to use a different motherboard that has that. I don't recall any that has both digital input and output; many have a digital output but a digital input is rare. I have a recording studio and my recording interface has the S/PDIF input and outputs but that is a different application (and much higher cost).

Install and use a PCIe sound card, and disable the on-board audio in the BIOS so it does not conflict (Windows will only allow one default audio playback device).

well i have no clue in all these things just what was bothering me was that at the icon of the speakers i have a x and i want that it should work properly

That has nothing to do with "digital".

Please post what you have listed in the Device Manager, Sound section.

What is showing in the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel, Playback section? The "Speakers" should be set as the default audio playback device.

If that shows properly, go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the RealTek entry then LEFT click "Uninstall". DO NOT uninstall the drivers. Then restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the sound. This fixes any Windows sound corruptions.

If that does not fix it consider installing the latest RealTek "HD Audio Codec" driver direct from RealTek. The one listed on the Gigabyte site is R2.70. The latest is R2.75. www.realtek.com

but nope the uninstalling didn't work
so now i want to try the "HD codec" where should i go in the realtek site

Realtek

Select the High Definition Audio Codecs (Software).

Select the appropriate 64 or 32 bit version (whichever you have on that system).

One other thing that you may want to do FIRST before installing the latest RealTek driver is to Install the motherboard chipset drivers.

"Intel INF installation" drivers.

my question is that when i insert speakers it works normally but when i take them out there appears a "X" on the icon of the speakers

If the speakers work OK when plugged in and the X goes away, then everything would appear to be working properly. Depending on the particular sound hardware (chip) it can put a red x on the speaker or not. Your apparently does.

so why when i plug out the spears there appears a red X on the speaker icon?

As I mentioned, the particular RealTek IC that you have, senses if anything is plugged in. When nothing is plugged in you get the Red X. Plug the speakers in and, according to your post, it goes away and the sound works.

By the way, yours is not the only one that works that way. A user on the Windows 8 forum reported their RealTek sound works exactly like yours.

well i think that they should fix it because you can't know if a driver is missing or anything else like me that i went up in down to find a solution to something that doesn't even exist
