Hi,

I'm looking to increase available bandwidth from Gigabit to 2 Gigabit for my home lab. My PC have two network cards and I need to use single IP address for both the NIC. Could someone guide me how this can be achived? Thanks

NIC Teaming requires a specific driver in order for it to work. Unless your switch can support etherchannels or LAg (Link Aggregation) you will have to assign each interface a different IP address for the subnet. Etherchannels do not work like Multi-link PPP which allows load balancing at a packet (frame) level to increase bandwidth. It will instead use each link for certain sessions so that load is distributed across all links. You will not receive any additional bandwidth.

What link is determined for a session? That is based on the driver used.

Unless one of your machines are acting as a server and need the NIC Teaming you will not receive much benefit from the clients side.

What is the make/model of the two NICs? I can see if a relevant driver is available for you to use if you wish.

Josh
