I am new to live mail. I have been using outlook 2010. I want to create seperate addess books and have the choice of which one i want to select contacts from. I could do it in outlook, but can't find how to do it in live mail. I made a seperate contact list but can access anyone in it, just the whole thing everyone in it goes in the email. Thanks

The basic program, like Windows Mail and Outlook Express before it, has one address book if you use it locally (without signing in to Windows Live Mail). If you sign in with your LiveID you will also have a contact list for each LiveID you set up at Live.com. If all you want to do is divide your contacts into groups (called "categories") you can do that within the same ID or even locally without signing in. The Contacts window of WLM should have an option called "Add a Category" for the purpose assigning contacts to groups.

Thanks for the reply. But what i want to do is have different address books like i do in outlook 2010. I have all contacts, I have main contacts and less used . when i forward an email i can chose which address book, to select an address or two from that book. I made a seperate category in my live mail but all it wants to do is forward to everyone in that category. If this is not possible i will have to go back to outlook. Just did not like all extras i have to deal with in outlook

In my (2009) version of WLM, there is a way to select individual recipients from a category for a new email: View the category in the contacts window; control-click to highlight each recipient you want to include; then right-click on one of them and choose "send email" from the right-click menu. Now the selected people from the category will appear in the "To" field. It looks like if what you want to do is Forward an email to that list, you need to push the "Forward" button in the original email you received and then copy and paste the contents of the resulting message into the new email you created from the previous right-click option.

Thanks again for the come back! This is way to much trouble to bother with, will go back to outlook. I sure miss outlook express and wish they would bring it back. Tried thunderbird but that was a pain to clean up an email before forwarding, because of all the red lined boxes. Thanks
