Hello everybody, :)

There is one user in a school i created for her local user account.
She called me today to install a program because she doesn't have administration privilege.

I logged in using her account and below what i did:

1. right click on the program which she wants to install.
2. i chose run as administrator
3. i typed computer name \ administrator and then the password

My problem is, a message appear that either username or password is wrong.
i am sure 100 % the info above is correct, but still showing me that message.

Please any idea what am i missing ?

Thank you for all support you do.

You have to use your credentials as admin to install the program and allow users...not her credentials. :geek:

If you want to add her user account to the Administrators group so she could install software . Input the command below inside an Elevated Command Prompt. To open up an Elevated Command Prompt click on :orb: type in CMD inside Search programs and files box. Once CMD comes up underneath Programs (1) right click on CMD and choose Run as Administrator . Inside the User Access Control window input your Password ( if you are the Administrator on the PC ) then click on OK OR click on the Yes button if there is no password needed. Inside the Command Prompt the path should open up to C:\Windows\System32>_ . Type in the command below

net localgroup administrators {heraccountname} /add
Press <ENTER>

   Note
Type in her user account name without the brackets

Once successfully added the user name to the Administrators account close the Command prompt by either typing in EXIT or the X on the upper right hand side.

I'm going to go one a limb here, you used your Domain credentials correct? Despite the computer being logged in under a local, non domain account? Granted I am assuming this school's computers are under a domain.

Confusing. Geeks are we now trying to go from A to B via Z?

First, OP has clearly misunderstood something: Running an application or install / setup file as administrator does not mean it will be run with OP's admin account's credentials. Instead it means running something as the Windows native, buil-in administrator.

Mahmoud, this is really simple: When logged in to this standard user's account, double click the installation application (no need to run as admin from context menu). As the user has no rights to install it, Windows UAC prompts you to give permission. Simply enter your password and click Yes to install the program.

Hello my friend,

Actually, i have not been told to add her to the administrator group.
That's why i want to install the program by logging in her account and using the administrator privilege.

Nice info you mentioned sure i will use it in the future.

Thanks for your help ;)

Hello my friend,

No, i am not using Domain credentials, but i will tell you the situation, the school will open officially on September, and still there is no network at all. fine ?
so, to save time, i took her PC to our office, configured it, joined to the domain and installed the required programs.

Partially, you are correct and i will explain for you.

In the school, they are using Internet USB which provided by (ISP) temporary.
There are two accounts for her, one is local account which i created temporary for her until our company create the Domain account.

Second, Domain account which has been created for her recently.

Once i log into her Domain account and try to install any program using administrator privilege i receive that message, despite i type the password correctly but still showing that message.

Hope you got the picture clear.

Thanks for your help. ;)

Yes Kary, :) even when i double click the setup file, it is showing me that message and i enter the password.
But still giving me error user name or password.
It means the credentials are not correct. Make a screenshot of the UAC prompt and post it here.

If i got it, i will post it here.
