Administrator Question

Thanks in advance for any help on this

• I have 3 computers: Home, Office & Laptop all running Windows 7 Home

• I did all the installs myself and set myself up as the only user and as the Administrator

• No one else uses these computers

My question is, even as an Administrator, I always get messages that say "you'll need administrator privileges to go here, or to change that" or to do just about anything that involves making changes to Windows or visiting certain folders. I tweak a lot to make things the way I like them.

HOW do I set myself up as the REAL Administrator so I don't get these messages and I can change what ever I want to change and not be told I need to be the Administrator... when I thought I was the Administrator?

There is a hidden Adminstrator for those who really know what they're doing (you know who you are;)).

Once enabled copy your files over and delete your named Account. You may find it easier to wait til next reinstall to set this up as some programs may only be set up to run by your current User.

I'm told that turning UAC to lowest setting achieves the same thing but haven't confirmed it yet since I have always run as hidden Admin on my computers, without intrusion.

I would try doing this bit first though to see if it solves your problems, unless you really want to be using the hidden account. The reason it is hidden I'm told is because it can change ANYTHING, and that can be dangerous if the wrong files are changed (Preventing startup, etc.). Administrator with UAC disabled should be enough for most people. ;)
