Will the entire Adobe CS3 suite work on the 64-bit Ultimate version of Windows 7? Is there a list somewhere of compatable and incompatible software for the 64-bit version?

According to the posters HERE it does.

EDIT: It's confirmed working on 7, but don't know about x64. You can always try for nothing.

Okay. Let's be more specific. Does anyone who has already purchased and is using CS3 know if it works on Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit?

For the sake of wasting 6 hours trying to find out, would it not be easier just to try and install it.

I guess I am still too subtle I do not HAVE Win 7, 64-bit, nor do I know anybody who does. I am wondering whether to get the 64 or the 32 bit version. If Adobe CS3 does not work in the 64-bit verison, I would seriously consider going 32-bit, since this is a critical application for a fleet of out computers. So I was just asking if someone had given it a serious try and what their experience was.

I have had no issues running on Windows 7 ultimate x64 up to and including RC.

CS3 works pretty decently overall.

Photoshop works mostly fine, InDesign works well except for when you export stuff, if you let the program lose focus it will seem as though the program has stopped responding (though it hasn't, you just won't be able to watch the progress bars.)

Illustrator works halfway well. You have to set the XP Service Pack 3 compatibility mode in illustrator so that it will work correctly and allow you to import links into illustrator files correctly. This will kill Aero, unfortunately.

I installed Illustrator CS3 on my new Windows 7 64X (Home Premium) machine today. It told me that it installed completely. I have all the programs in their directories and it appears complete....but it will not run. When I click any of the programs that installed with it, like Bridge or Illustrator, the cursor thingy (what do we call that thing?) spins for about 10 seconds then nothing.

I tried reinstalling. I tried running in various compatability modes (XP sp2, XP sp3, Vista sp2) but no luck. Interestingly, Illustrator appears as a running program in Task Manager, but nothing opens.

I saw a post from someone else on another board that had this exact same issue. They were also running a machine with the AMD Phenom II processor. Not sure if that means anything.

I sure would like to get a solution for this. I think I may try downloading a trial of CS4 to see if that runs.

Just loaded the CS4 trial and it seems to be working normally. Missing alot of fonts, but I expected that.

My change to Windows 7 is costing me some unexpected software upgrades and my flat bed scanner is unsupported. So some new hardware too.

Depending on your scanner, this may help...VueScan Scanning Software. It worked for my Nikon Super Coolscan 4000.

I downloaded the CS4 trial and installed it and it ran okay. Guess I'm forced to upgrade. Funny thing is, I installed my 4 year old version of Photoshop Elements 5.0 (3 versions old) and it ran fine, but my one year old version of CS3 will not.

Hmmm...CS2 runs like a charm for me under Windows 7 64-bit, though I only use it for photo editing so...

Right now I'm running the trial version of CS4 and like it thus far.

I'm currently using CS3 and Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator all work great. Personally, I don't really see a big difference between CS3 & CS4, and the CS3 install file is much smaller.

I have an open case with Adobe Tech Support regarding all of this. Says they are supposed to reply within 24 hours I think. Haven't heard anything in 3 days.

Thanks for the suggestion on the scanner - I'll give it a try. Someone else told me that several software programs may import from a scanner, even though you can't get the scanner software to run it independently.

I am running the same system as prodad and currently going through the same hoops. Currently I am annoyed as can be that this appears to be a system specific error and that HP and adobe want to charge +60$ to access any tech support on it. I will post here if I figure out what to do, I would ask you do the same prodad.
