Adobe CS3 in 64-bit Ultimate

Hey there I finally found the answer to our problem prodad. Apparently the licensing software for adobe hated the amd quad cores, but they released a patch which corrects it. I found someone who did this in a random AMD forum and it works great. Error "Licensing for this product has stopped working" when you start any Adobe Creative Suite 3 application That is the link to the solution on adobes website, Im sure that those jerks wanted me to pay 60 bucks so that they could give me that link, Im damn happy personally.

Will do, but I've run out of things to try. I have people telling me on other boards that "of course it won't run. It's a 32 bit program." But then there are people here that are running it. Does sound system specific.

Patch works!

peterh! You made my day. That did the trick. I ran it like three times and it didn't work so I was about to give up, but then I thought I'd try running it with my security software turned off (Trend Micro) and that allowed it to run correctly.

I'm back in business! I should send you the $60.

(Just kidding. I need it to buy a new scanner.) :D

There is another thread on here where we were trying to figure this out. I'll post your solution there.

Thanks again! Merry Christmas.

I guess I am still too subtle I do not HAVE Win 7, 64-bit, nor do I know anybody who does. I am wondering whether to get the 64 or the 32 bit version. If Adobe CS3 does not work in the 64-bit verison, I would seriously consider going 32-bit, since this is a critical application for a fleet of out computers. So I was just asking if someone had given it a serious try and what their experience was.
Issues with Adobe Flash across x64 IE browsers exist.

Hey guys, same issue here. HP with an AMD X4 & Windows 7 64bit trying to run Adobe CS3. peterh, that fix helped me out huge, thanks a lot. I have been agonizing over this for 2 days now with my new PC.

Still have one problem though: Acrobat Pro runs, and everything else runs from CS3, but Photoshop still won't run. I'm done reinstalling the programs. . .

Anyone hear of anything?

Wow--the patch worked for me, too

Just bought an HP Pavillion Elite with Windows 7 Home Premium and AMD processor. Photoshop CS3 would install but would hang when accessed. Some forums suggested that Photoshop CS3 is incompatible with this AMD processor and Windows 7 (64-bit). I called HP and was told the software is incompatible. I was just about to return my computer when I found this forum. I downloaded and installed the patch. I then opened Photoshop (for the thousandth time) and voila--it FINALLY opened!!!

Thank you so much for this terrific fix!! :D

Glad that patch is working for some people. Seems to be very system specific. I've noticed that when I run CS3 it will disable Aero-Peek. BUt I canlive without that for now.

does anyone else have ridiculous problems with cs4 (especially photoshop) in 7 ultimate x64?

i have literally spent 20 hours in total trying to get this shizzle to work:

cs4 wouldn't install fully -> follwed adobe support instructions
-> reinstall, still didn't work -> used adobe clean script, it ruined the registry
-> format/windows reinstall -> new error, damaged dvd
--> new dvd finally, seems to install alright
-> photoshop won't open certain types of files -> reinstall
-> photoshop won't replace missing fonts -> reinstall
-> photoshop still won't replace missing fonts

i give up, someone help

CS3 and Win 7 Ultimate 64 Bit

I now have Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit as my OS. I installed CS3 (no problems) and not only does it run, but it runs and loads up NOTICEABLY faster on my machine than it did when I was using 32 bit XP Pro.

I tried loading illustrator ver 10 and couldnt get it to run on Win 7 but I dont really care as I have hardly ever used it.

Just ordered Elements 8 to add to my Graphics Programs. Will be ordering Lightroom ver 3 next week.

Cheers

Adobe CS3 installs perfectly and runs perfectly in my Windows 7 64-bit machine - with the exception that InDesign, whilst working normally when it works, repeatedly 'disappears' and has to be reinstalled. Does anyone else have this problem? the other programs in the suite don't seem to have the problem (though admittedly InDesign is the one which gets the most use).

For the sake of wasting 6 hours trying to find out, would it not be easier just to try and install it.

I have the same question as above, but...the reason I'm asking is because I am trying to decide if it's worth the $$ to buy a new Windows 7 X64 computer and if I'll have to buy a ton of new software that I truly don't need. That makes a difference. I'm not just playing with computers for the sake of playing and to 'see if something works'.

So, I'd appreciate hearing if anyone has any new experiences lately with this.

(BTW, Rachelc, I only use Photoshop and not the other parts of the suite, so it's good to know that you seem to be working with it ok at this point. )

Thank you for the idea. I don't use Photoshop for photography so I don't really have the need for Raw, but I'll mention it to my husband since he uses PS on his laptop for his photography. I actually 'paint' art on the computer digitally, much as I did on canvas many years ago, so I don't often get into the photo tools.

That sounds interesting. I'm not proficient in digital painting, but I do take an awful lot of photographs and find that shooting in RAW means I've always got a digital negative to work with.

Obviously, I don't know your husband's digital workflow, but I shoot in RAW, convert to DNG for compatibility with other software, save as PDF to manipulate the images, and then save the finished article as TIFF or JPEG as required.

He likes to work with raw as well. As far as my photography? The only pictures I take anymore are with the iPhone. he he he We've got a ton of cameras here that we don't use - Canon Digital Elph, Canon Rebel, and he has the big ole monster camera. He wants to start getting back into his photography tho - it's great fun for him. I'm in artwork world every day, so....I'm happy with that.

Oh, and by the way - the reason I'm considering a new computer? I have a perfectly good XPS loaded that is still a very viable laptop. I attempted an update that QuickBooks kept 'demanding' I do. It evidently accessed a file in the XP system that it wasn't supposed to (based on assessment of a few experts I know) and it's caused a huge corruption in a section of the operating system. I've spent (get this) over 46 hours on the phone with various Techs, all with heavy accents who can't seem to understand what's going on. They've now made the system virtually unusable and they even managed to import a virus into my system!!! No Quickbooks (can't bill customers, can't ship, can't invoice, can't track orders at the print office); No photoshop (some sort of registry issue); error codes everywhere; AOL doesn't work (before anyone makes comments about AOL, I have two parents with dementia and a sister who is autistic and AOL is what she knows so that's what we use to communicate). I live by the computer and I'm in hell with this mess. I got rid of the virus (no help from those who brought it in), and it appears that this computer will have to be wiped to clean up their mess.

SO, if I'm going to have to spend weeks trying to reconfigure a computer, I figure I might as well do it on a new one. :::sigh:::: It's not money I'd planned to spend. BUT I've gotta be sure everything will work on it. My other concern (on another thread I started) is about Outlook. Will Outlook 2007 work on the Windows 7 Professional X64 system? I sync my iPhone to and use Outlook extensively. There are many online comments about problems with Outlook 2007 and the Windows 7 Pro X64 system. And I'm not sure that the idiots at Apple have brought themselves up to speed enough to allow to sync to Outlook 2010.

Sorry to ramble - just crazy with this mess. I don't like my life to be so disorganized.

Adobe CS3 & CS4 will work in Windows 7 But....

Adobe CS3 & Adobe CS4 will work in systems that have been freshly installed from a Windows 7 disc. The disc you use shouldn't be a Windows 7 w/ service pack 2,3, or whatever. For some reason, Adobe CS3 & Adobe CS4 will work on a Windows 7 64bit system that hasn't been updated. The moment you allow Windows 7 64bit to acquire and install system updates, your version of Adobe CS3/CS4 will cease to work.

When you uninstall and attempt to reinstall on your system, the process will be tripped up on one file (Adobe64??.dll). It will tell you that it cannot find this file on the disc. If you skip this, the install will seem to resume but it will ultimately uninstall itself.

Calling Adobe will solve nothing. They will tell you do everything that you have already tried. When it fails, they will ultimately suggest you purchase their 64bit version of Adobe CS5.5 or greater which may costs $1700 or more. Adobe doesn't care to hear your problems, they only care about money! I wish there was a company that had a competitive product I could use because I seriously think that Adobe has reached a level where they no longer care to resolve the concerns of their customers.

I will be smiling when that day comes. Again.... Adobe CS3/CS4 will not work/install on a completely updated Windows 7 64bit system.
