I got the problem that some software (cs4 indesign, songbird) shuts down aero (non-transparent taskbar, windows). But that only happens on my laptop. the problem doesn't appear on my desktop machine.

Desktop: nvidia geforce 8600gt, laptop: radeon mobile 3650

drivers both came from windows update

when i shutdown the software that makes trouble areo restores.

Another Problem: my desktop machine cant install the GeForce 8600GT driver (windows update downloaded it, but on installation an error appeared), it uses another driver instead, anyone had this problem before?

Hi weazel,

This is most probably just a compatability issue. Windows 7 is changing the graphics to allow CS4 to run, hence the change back after wards. I guess that after installing you may have had a message about software not installing properly and have allowed the OS to reinstall it.
I normally click away this message, try the program and then, only if it is not working reinstall and let the OS try. In my experience this is rarely necessary as most programs work anyway.

Pooch

Ps as for your other problem, if your graphic card is working properly then don't worry about it

Other Info
I have also used Fedora, Suse, Ubuntu Linux
And all other Windows from 95 to date except ME
I noticed this with other programs myself, most recently vlc media player.

I was able to maneuver this issue by manually installing the 64 bit vista driver for the 8600 gt, problem solved.

As for your specific apps I have no idea, you may have to try a few workarounds to see.
