hi there i recently dnld alcohol120 latest edition(1.9.8.7117)but iam not able to install it on ma pc it start instalation and ask for reboot n after rebootin the pc it asks again to reboot n am not able to install that iam usin the older version on my xp machine that works smoothly plz help to fix this

Hi implague and welcome to the forum!

Unfortunately, Alcohol 120% and Daemon Tools will not install in Windows 7 due to the incompatibility with the SPDT drivers and both are at this point unwilling to support the beta OS.

The good news is that you can use other emulators. To see what other members are using, you can check here. I personally use PowerISO

Hi Reno!

I would suggest this program, it is free, and has no malware:

CDBurnerXP: Introduction and News

Although it does not burn MDF files right off, a simple fix is to mouth the img if you can and copy the mounted "disc" that should work.

Now that said, deamon tools doesn't work, neither does alcohol 120, so please use poweriso, it works. www.poweriso.com

Yes I faced the same problem on windows7 64bit platform. I tried to install alcohol 120% 1.9.8. 7507 version but the problem is not resolved. Reply and free communication is expected.

i was checking a while ago, and forgot to post this, but i sawe a post on some forum by a developer of daemon (and im hoping its the same problem as alcohol) that said that it was a problem with daemon, and not windows that caused it not to work (i also did some stuff, and a box came up that it wasnt the right kernel or something like that) and that they were working on a new version of the program, and so i assumed the same problem for alcohol, shut my mouth and made do with vitual clone drive (until of course the new daemon version works right)

Once you DO get in installed, don't be surprised if it complains bitterly about licensing problems. It saves a hash code of the machine when it's first installed and licensed at the vendor's website, after that, changes to your machine can produce different hash codes -- which has the effect of invalidating the license.

I've had this happen every time I installed another OS, or changed versions of other OSs -- even though I've NOT messed with the Vista OS other than routine Windows Updates.

Alcohol 120% does work in both Vista & Windows 7, all builds and both x32 & x64.
Just make sure that you install it first in "SAFE MODE" before running and activating it, I've done this on many installs and never have any problems.

But just curious:
Why not just use Alcohol 52% free edition?

Its free, and the only thing it can NOT do is create image files.
Also limited to 6 virtual Drives

For creating Images, IMGBurn is free as and does just as well or better.

Both work perfect under 7 x64

This post was originated when Windows 7 was still in beta and RC. Now that Windows 7 is released Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120% work just fine.

the Free version of Alcohol 52% works fine as well -- if you just need a virtual CD / DVD drive mounter go for that one instead of purchasing a full product.
