Alienware Skin pack help

So, im installing this alienware skin pack. I have some questions about this.

1. Should i patch dll files and exe files for this?
2. Should i install something called "Refresh icon cache"?
3. What is YzShadow?

1. Patching dlls and exes is fine provided that you have made proper backups of the originals.

2. No need to install 'Refresh icon cache'. Use this instead if you really need a rebuilder: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/49819-icon-cache-rebuild.html

3. YzShadow adds shadow behind windows and dialog boxes useful only in Windows XP as Windows 7 already have those shadows. NO need to install this on Windows 7.

If you would like to post a link to what you are trying to install and I will look at it, some of the skin packs out there can really mess up your system.
