align-1024 or align=4096 for SSD using Diskpart?
Which is best
for correct alignment for my Samsung 840 EVO SSD ?
Create partition primary align=1024
or
Create partition primary align=4096
I read Diskpart uses kilo Bytes.
And when they talk about 4k advanced format it means 4096 Bytes not kilobytes
Am I right?
So I'm a bit confused. Why do so many people say use "Create partition primary align= 1024" and another great deal of people say "Create partition primary align= 4096" which would be 4 megabytes for SSD's?

Why use more than 1024 ? There`s no reason to.

Align to 4096 is a myth that some guy started in Overclock.net forums a while ago, pure BS in my opinion, but he retracted after too many other users started questioning him about.

Exactly, why take more space from your ssd then you need, I don`t care how small the amount.

I thought alignment was for every block. Seems it is only for the first block I think. So yeah 4096 would be overkill. Funny though I thought all SSD's were 4k native. When I query my drive using nfsutil it says my Samung EvO is 512bytes physical AND logical.. Not 4k native. I;m confused. Or I might have the windows 4 k driver update not installed. How can I find out?
