something really stupid recently started happening with my computer in which trying to play video of any kind would cause explorer.exe to crash alongside windows media player, skype to crash on system boot, and crash on launch when i try to reopen it up to 15 times, same goes for windows media center, internet explorer, STEAM (which claims the system is running it in compatability mode, which its NOT, com surrogate crashes during sony vegas renders, and sony vegas renders on GPU OR CPU stall randomly, a DLL for brawlbox.exe specifically ALWAYS randomly self destructs itself and i have to keep redownloading it to run brawlbox again, windows updats now fail, AND my antivirus says that there is NO infection and it is a HUGE pain in the ass to format the HDD, and reinstall windows, and have to reinstall everything, and pay for again software that I am out of activation limits for plus i lose al my files because i have nowhere to back them up on, I really need help, I am about to take my computer to the gun range and destroy the whole thing

additionally, litterally every application EXCEPT the system core apps, and google chrome will run, everything else crashes including unessential software that comes integrated with windows

Yikes! Suggest you start with the System File Checker

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

All these issues at once suggests either an infection, or a massive system failure.

Download and scan with Malwarebytes free and Superantispyware free for starters

Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware FREE

SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!

If these programs find nothing, then a Repair install may work, but likely a clean install will ultimately be necessary. Start with these, and let us know what the outcome is. A Guy

There is no way to do a repair (upgrade) install with an Anytime Upgrade Key - the only option would be a clean install.

This is because Windows will not accept an AU Key at any point except upgrading from the proper qualifying OS - so even using the Default Key as a temporary measure leaves you with an install which cannot be activated.

update on this junk:

its windows update is at fault for causing near total system failure at boot where everything just crashes and doesnt BOOT at all (except the OS)
repair installs FREEZE and rollback every time they are attempted after an update, even if the only update applied was "AMD video driver" only
