Welcome to the Seven Forums, AJBUB.

We would really appreciate it if you could add some more details about your issue. From what you have said, it sounds as if you may have a virus. Try running a quick scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and tell us what the results are.

Hello AJBUB, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Your description and title of your issue are contradicting each other, so I'm not sure what your exact issue may be.

I would recommend that you check to be sure that you are virus and malware free as Brice posted above.

If your programs are not opening with that program, then downloading and merging the exe and lnk (LNK) options in the tutorial below to see if that may help. It will restore the default associations for these file extensions.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19449-default-file-type-associations-restore.html

Hope this helps,
Shawn

To get a copy of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, see if you can use another computer in your house or a friend's computer to download it and put it on a thumb drive.

As for opening it on your computer, try booting Windows into Safe Mode with Networking, as explained in the tutorial below, and then installing it.

I assume that you're asking if you will be unable to do anything with Chrome that you could with Internet Explorer. Unless you use Microsoft Outlook Web Access, your experience in Chrome should be the same (if not better than) your experience in Internet Explorer.

You will still need IE for Windows updates.

Download the batch files from Brink's last post. Save to your desktop ... now right click on the file and choose to run as Administrator. Your file associations should be fixed.

Just fix your file extensions using Brink's method. There's nothing hard about it and your problem will be solved. Stop jumping onto other "solutions" and get it done!

Did you right click on the downloaded REG files, click on Merge, approve, and restart the computer afterwards?

If this is only a IE issue, then they will not help.

I moved both files onto my desktop. I hit merge on reg file and they verified their activation keys. THey did not do anything.

ALso by turning internet explore off everything works normally so i would guess its an ie problem.

Are you using IE8 or IE9?

You might see if resetting IE completely may be able to help.
