All screwed up

Hi guys, I picked up a virus a few weeks back it took some doing but i got rid of it. But my pc doesnt run so well now, i tried fixing it with Yamicsoft Windows 7 Manager. It did repair a lot of issues but created a lot also. Now it seems like i am running Vista again it is slow and a lot of features are gone. My question is, can i just reinstall w7 over top of the existing without losing anything. I did clone my HD but since i cloned it i have a lot more data that i would lose. I guess what i am asking is is there any way to repair the os without reformatting???????????

On many a post, I have read that if the repair is trying to correct serious problems it may be best to run it through 3 times.

If the repair does not work, I would just do a system restore.

I have all the updates installed so it will not let me do a repair

Let's try a few things before clean install:

Boot into Safe Mode with networking by tapping F8 at bootup, run Malwarebytes virus scan.

Now download Spybot S&D, update and scan system.

Your computer hopefully by now has a clean bill of health.

In Windows 7, run sfc /scannow to see if any System files have been damaged beyond repair.

If so, run a Repair install from the desktop.
