Am I ready for Window 7?

Well I currently have a Window XP 32Bit
And This is my computer.
Compaq Presario Media Center SR2039X Desktop PC Product Specifications Compaq Presario Media Center SR2039X Desktop PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)
Windows Upgrade Advisor and many program said my computer is compatible for Window 7 but last time when i borrowed a friend CD and install Window 7 Ultimate. It lagg(slow) so badly on my computer. I mean my FireFox loads in like 1sec on XP and it took 20sec on Window 7. Do you think I am ready?

When i did the the Upgrade from my Window XP to Window 7, I did a whole system restore(reset everything)

If you are still running the stock 1GB of memory on that system, it's going to run somewhat slow with Windows 7. That is the minimum memory requirement. And if you are at the minimum requirement, expect minimum performance.

also i see that you have a sata drive.. see if you are running the ahci interface. that will increase your hard drive speed thereby increasing you know what...

   Note

One sub question:
Is ahci faster than ide? I read somewhat contradictory claims, that in syntethic benchmarks you get faster results with ahci, however in real world application ide is still faster.
Is it true?
