i have a fx-8150 mounted on a msi 970a-g46 lately i have noticed fps drops in bf3 my gpu usage bouncing everywhere between 50%-100% i have a xfx 7970 3gb. with corsair 700watt and antec water cooling. this cpu is overclocked at 4.30ghz idle temps are around 30-36c when running bf3 on ultra settings 1080p cpu gets around 40c max ive seen is 41c while hardcore gaming. the hottest i have seen the gpu get is 60c it used to get to 70c but it was pretty much covered in dust cleaned it now runs at 60c while hard core gaming. im kinda think this cheap 970a motherboard might be dying as i know i need an 990fx motherboard would i see stability and fps gain if i get a 990fx motherboard another factor it could be is my 3-4 year old psu as i have put TREMENDOUS use on it, the psu is the oldest thing in my rig right now everything else is less then a year old. i will come back and post some videos for you guys to see my activity. ill even stress test etc. thanks for your help

WhenImGone,
Welcome to SF. I have had good success with MSI mobo in both multiple AMD rigs and Intel. I would tend to lean towards the PSU, but's it's only a hunch. Do you have anyone you can borrow a PSU large enough to test in your rig? You can also purchase very inexpensive PSU tester.

If you tried new drivers or the betas it could be the cause of frame loss as they are focusing on stability also look in the CCC and double check settings usually let the application decide is the best results for those cards

Just out of curiosity, have you tried bumping up your CPU PLL up a notch of two to try and stabilize the cpu frequency. Might be worth a try, it's a trick for the 970 boards that I learned about.

Gotta have at least 1!
ok i have swapped out psu i believe its a mother board problem. bios 12v doesn't read it says -0.004 all the time i remember it use to read right i use to see 12.46-12.50 and then before the frame loss i noticed bios use to read 14.445 but my multimeter read right at 12.5v not it read 12.3 12.4 lowest. also i think it fried my 7970 as it stopped working out of the no where
