Solved AMD FX4100 or AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition

Hey, I thought you up and disappeared! Welcome back to the Lions den! LOL ;)

Well, hopefully you read over the link I supplied here. It pretty much sums of the differences in the CPUs which fit your Mobo.

You should read up on Milti-core processors, too. Then, you'll have a better understanding about what type of software is needed to support them. x6 and x8 are the furture.

yeah that's most likely why your boot is slow, you could maybe consider getting maybe a ssd in the near future when they get a bit cheaper and use that for your boot and os and all your programs on the hdd and you will be flying fast ;)

Here's something I found on the Internet.

What makes one processor better than another:

Processors are often measured in clock speed. For instance, a modern processor might have a clock speed of 3GHz. That means that it is able to perform 3 billion basic operations every second. If you count multiple cores as a single 'processor', then the number of cores is also a quantifiable measure of the processor's capability.

That said, there are other important concerns. Independently of clock speed, a processor's architecture also has a significant effect on its performance, one which is far harder to quantify. Also, different kinds of tasks have different levels of efficiency, and ultimately, a computer's processor is almost never using its full potential.

Time to hit the sheets. catch you later.

Next month I am buying a new WD 500GB Black SATA 3 hard drive for Win 7 boot drive. This and the new CPU I ordered should make this computer fly lol Also by what I hear no computer store in Bridgewater ever sold any of the FX series CPU's so I may be the only one in my town so I could say: Bragging rights? LOL

What's the population in that town?

If you save any movies on the HDD, you might consider a 1 TB size.

How much Ram are you running? 12 Gb would be about just right.

I use Crucial because the prices are right, and you can run their online scanner. Check it out.

RAM Memory Upgrade: Dell, Mac, Apple, HP, Compaq. USB drives, SSD at Crucial.com

If you have dual memory, which you should have, always replace the Ram stcks in pairs of equal size. And keep them in one channel. Say you have two blue slots and two black slots. You buy two 4 GB sticks. Put them both in one color, or one channel. 2x4 GB=8 + 2x2GB=4, totals 12GB. Since I upgraded mine from 6 GB to 12 GB, it flies! LOL I'm thinking of going to the full 16 GB, next.

Have a great Easter Sunday!
