@ Anak - delighted to see you quoting that.
Few people understand how important it is to stand up for others.
Even over the small things in life.
If you don't, then little by little, choice and freedom are eroded - by the time you realise- it is too late.
Martin Niemöller: "First they came for the Socialists..."
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.
Thank you for the kind words SIW2.
Instead of griping about it on some forum, put your money where your mouth is.
That's why I posted the contact links, look what it did to stop SOPA, and PIPA, for now.
Ours may be a lousy system, but it isn't the only way we have for the "common people" to express themselves to their elected Representatives.
Get out and vote; send a postcard, have meetings, work to have laws changed, make your voice heard, but the email angle seems to be the most effective, you can't stop you have to keep hammering at them, and you should also email to them in their home State offices.
So far I have emailed each U.S. Senator, and I am now working on the House, that will end up being a total of 535 emails.
Now that may seem like a small number, but if all the members here at SevenForums did the same, and the last time I checked it was 194,148 it would total 103,869,180 emails, each Senator alone would get hit with 9,707,400.
I'd love to hear the start of Congressional hearings down in
Foggy Bottom.
My DW, and I just started new FiOS service with Verizon, and I am in a thread asking if they could clarify their position, and why haven't they sent out at least a form letter or posted something on-line about this new policy.
I expect a “canned response” in reply, but my hope is other FiOS users will see it, and “rally 'round the flag”.
It is
here if anyone would like to see it
I realize that I will never see deep changes in how Governments are run in my lifetime, and it will take several generations for changes to be made, maybe more than several if ever, but I will have the satisfaction knowing that at least I tried.
