Annoying "Choose Profile" in Outlook 2010

I am running Outlook 2010 32bit with Windows 7 Pro 64bit. After installing google outlook sync (and subsequently uninstalling) an annoying popup window continues to appear when I start outlook. It asks me to Choose Profile. I have only one profile named "outlook". When you click "options" you can check a box that says "check as default profile" This does not make the annoying popup go away. It still pops up the next time you start outlook. After searching the web for a fix I found one promising work around. Access control panel then select "mail" here you go in to outlook profiles and check make outlook the default profile. The problem is this doesn't work with Windows 7 64bit and Outlook 32bit. In the control panel "mail" is grayed out and when you click on it nothing happens. Does anyone know how you can access Outlook profiles with this set-up?

Oh and there is a very long thread in Google forums with many fixes, all of which I have tried, none of which have worked. it is obviously a problem caused by google outlook sync but google has remained silent.

Have you tried to repair Office 2010?
Go to the Control Panel
Select Programs and Features.
Go down to Microsoft Office 2010
Select change from the menu bar.
Then select repair.

Thanks pbcopter. I tried repair at you suggestion but got an error message that it can't find proofing.en-us\proof.fr\proof.msi. I have no idea what that refers to. Did a search for Proof.msi with negative results. i would hate to re-install all of Office 2010. Any thoughts?

To configure Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007, and Outlook 2003 so that Outlook starts with a specific email profile, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. Copy and paste, or type the following command in the Open box, and then press ENTER:control panel
   Note If you are using a 64-bit version of Windows, double-click View 32-bit Control Panel in Control Panel to display the Mail icon.
3. Open the Mail Setup dialog box:
   
   For Windows 7:
   • If Control Panel is in either Large icons or Small icons view, click Mail. The Mail Setup dialog box appears.
   • If Control Panel is in Category view, under View by, click to select either Large icons or Small icons, and then click Mail. The Mail Setup dialog box appears.

Thanks but unfortunately I am unable to access mail setup this way. In the control panel "mail 32bit" is grayed out and does not respond to repeated clicking.

Saltgrass in Windows 7 Forum found the solution. Make a simple registry change

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Options

PickLogonProfile if it is 0, no popup and 1 you will

This is a late reply reply, but I just read your post after having the same problem. I tried your fixed by going into REGEDIT. The PickLoginProfile is already set to 0, is this correct or do I change it to 1?

Sorry my reply wasn't very clear. It should be 0 for no pop-up. I have another problem now. My send /receive button doesn't work. I have to close and open to check for new email.
