Annoying issues with Folders

Just gotten windows 7 a few days back.
I've found an annoying problem which started last night. When i try to open a nfew folder it opens a new windows as opposed to opening in the same window.
I have the "Open each folder in the same window" option ticked.
I have been installing a lot programs and such like so I guess it likely is 1 of them changing the registry settings

I tried googling for it and there was different answers but none of them fixed the issue of me.

Anyone have ideas? It's gets really frustrating very quick

Control Panel>Folder Options
There is a setting in there that does just what you want.

Edit: Sorry, I did not read your post very carefully. Try unticking the box and rechecking it.

I've tried that but still the same result
