Annoying permission errors when saving images

Sometimes, when I save a image from Firefox to my Desktop, an error appears, saying that I don't have permission to save the file, and to contact the computer administrator or something like that. However, a 0 byte file with the name is created, and if I try to save the image again over the old one, it always succeeds.

I know it's not a big deal, but it's annoying. I wonder if anyone else has this problem? Before someon ask: there's only this user account on this computer, with full administrator rights, and no network computers.

Does that only happen when you are saving to the desktop, or is it the same when you save to another folder?

Now you got me. I'll start saving images in My Documents and see if the problem persists. I'll report here tomorrow.

And how are you trying to save them?

Some images are basically a direct connection from your computer to the web site. Security is probably doing what it needs to do.

I can't believe that, a simple download can't be a direct connection between me and the web site. Also, how can Security be blocking this, if when I just try to save the image again, I always succeed?

By the way, I've noticed that this happens when saving in any location, from any program. Just happened in Photoshop CS4. Image refuses to save with a permission error - 0 byte file is created - Try to save again, overwriting - Successfully saved.

And this is not recent, that has been happening since the installation of Windows 7. I have it for 4 months now, but it was such a minor thing that I didn't bother asking around.

Are your folders shared with another OS. E.g. I have all my folders on a seperate data partition and share them between Vista and Win7. Once in a while i run into similar permission problems because when I use them from one system for a while, the other system loses permissions. It's easy to fix in properties > security tab.

No, there's only Windows 7 installed on this computer.

I seem to be getting the same error when getting pictures from an iphone. Even if I save it as, and then try to manipulate and save over it, it gets a permission error. And it only happens on some batches of imports.

How do I find out what's blocking it? I've gone through everything in the properties, I have admin access and full control over the file. Is there anyway to debug this permissions problem?
