Another side-by-side error

Dear all,
I'm running Windows7/64bit Enterprise edition, Service Pack 1, a fresh install. I am trying to run some software, but it gives me a "side-by-side configuration" error. I've installed the 32bit versions of Visual C++ 2005, 2005 SP1, 2008, 2008 SP1, and 2010 in that order. This did not get the software running.

I've used sfc /scannow and that tells me that Windows Resource Protection found no problems.

I've used sxstrace, and here is the result:

Can anyone possibly point me in the right direction? The software 'playing up' is SkyScan3001.exe.

My next move is to do the same 2005/2005SP1/2008/2008SP1/2010 with the 64bit VisualC++ Redist package.

I checked the Windows7 event viewer, it probably makes the issue a little clearer:

Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bioptonics 3001\SkyScan3001.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFC,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.4053" could not be found. Okay, if I install this:
Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update

I get past the Windows 'side by side' error. This might help somebody!

Now I'm presented with:

The program can't start because MFC42D.DLL is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

As far as I can tell, MFC42D is a debug version of MFC42?

Well this was a bit of a strange thread. I downloaded the debug versions of MFC42D.DLL, MSVCRTD.DLL and MSVCP60D.DLL from a generic DLL download site (according to microsoft, they are not meant for distribution -- just for debugging code). The software is now working. I think the authors need to rebuild the software, removing a "debug" tag might help.
