Huh? Now I'm confused... All your PC's have the inability to connect via their ethernet ports?

Dumb Question from me: Did you upgrade all the machines at the same time or one at a time?

Another Dumb Question from me: You have RoadRunner as an ISP and they are cable based so you have a cable modem, right?

Still Another Dumb Question: What was the configuration of all the PC's and how were they connected *prior* to the upgrade to W7? Was the router in place at that time or did you have a PC directly connected to the cable modem?

Oh what I ment was I have tryied to connect via eathernet cable to both the dynex switch and that linksys router and I get the same "unidentified network" on both. Sence we have moved all of our computers to windows 7 the only way to connect to the internet is wirelessly.

I highly suggest that you follow the advice given in my last post. The WRT54G is in fact the cause of your unidentified network problem. Use the MAC clone option problem solved. This problem is an old one and it's been solved many times already.

FIXED!!!!!

Ok I know there is three thousand of these posts but Ive tried all the fixes that I could find, or at least i think.

.....and the adapter is Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller

I have fixed my problem.

I recently formatted my XP Pro PC and did a clean install of Windows 7 Pro. Ever since, my (wired) network connection went crazy. Connectivity dropped every so many minutes for no reason, internet connection got interrupted all the time, throughput was slower than a snail, you all know the drill. I tried all the solutions on every forum I could find (same as in start post, and then some). No luck.

Turned out the RealTEK onBoard network card (NIC) of my 2-year old ASUS K8V motherboard has a problem under Windows 7. I updated the Windows 7 driver with the latest driver (Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller) and that solved part of the problem (internet speed came back to normal), but WAN connection was still flaky and LAN throughput was awful.

SOLUTION: I bought a wireless-N PCI card and connected my PC to my wireless network instead. Worked instantly, and as solid and strong as before. Put my Windows 7 laptop on the wired connection, and that works fine too. Conclusion: it's not the network, nor Windows 7, but the network CARD.

So you guys might want to try swapping NIC before changing any registry or system settings. Maybe it's RealTEK or onBoard-related, would be nice if others can confirm that.

EDIT
Got two replies to another post of mine: someone with a new MoBo and a RealTEK NIC says he runs fine under WIN7, but another guy with a 4yo MoBo and an onBoard RealTEK NIC has the same problems as us, even after updating drivers. So it might be related to RealTEK NICs older than let's say a year.

Not really. This problem and the suggested solution of MAC address cloning ONLY occurs/works on first install of the router on a DSL or cable modem. If the router has worked fine for a while and you suddenly get an "unidentified network", the problem has nothing to do with the MAC address.
