2011 is already obsolete. Get the 2012 version a try but I heard bad reviews and poor ratings about AVG in terms of both detection and performance. Anyway just give it a try (without having to buy a license) and if you're dissatisfied then switch to another AV.

I wouldn't use avg,I would go with avast,mse or avira for free anti viruses.

i had the same problem with u about updating of mse ,now i dont use it

You can opt for Microsoft Security Essentials for the protection of your computer having a good user interface and wide mechanism for virus detection and removal.

You are right but sometimes Microsoft security essentials is like a headache for us as it updates regularly. MSE doesn't seem to have scheduled scans. My personal experience with MSE was not good as it is not a good and reliable option in handling unknown maalware.

My suggestion is to download a trial of the Anti-Virus Program you are interested in to find out if you like it. I personally use Zone Alarm and Malwarebytes.

i think avira free or nod32 r good,slight n fast .mbam is good but now i only use nod32 and want to return avira ,just my sense .now i using kis2013 )
