Posted something about this earlier, but worded it the wrong way and had it taken down. A bit too much like an advertisement. Anyway, I still think it's worth mentioning here at least and I'm wondering if anyone else has it on their watch list.

If you don't know it's a space sim from the creator of Wing Commander/Freelance/Privateer. There is lots of footage available. Google can find it easily if you're interested and unaware of this. The trailers for it are all running on a modified Cryengine 3. In other words it will be the latest benchmark game for uber rigs. Expect pretty high system requirements.

I was just thinking about how cool it would be to have a modern day Wing Commander when I came across this. It's not a sequel, but it might as well be. Definitely in the same spirit of Wing Commander/Freelance/Privateer with modern graphics and an open world universe. It's also supposedly similar to Planetside as well, and will feature some form of ground combat.

There is no actual demo available yet and only various trailers.

I've been playing Chris Roberts games since 1990. The man knows what he's doing and doesn't exaggerate like Peter Molyneux. He shoots straight and has years of experience with this kind of game.

He's also big on PC development and has said that there is no chance of a console release and that he refuses to dumb down the game for a console release and it's being tailor made to take advantage of epic rigs. The two new consoles can't run it. It'll be nice to have another game to bring up when the console fanboys start going on about the console exclusives.

Oh, and native Occulus Rift support. So if you can keep your gut in check this will be a great demo title if you have one. Might be a good idea to keep a little bag handy just in case though.

I'm into this sort of game and have been for years so I'm really looking forward to it myself. This has actually gotten more of my attention than the SW:Battlefront reboot now and that's saying something.

I never heard of it until I read this. Googled some vid clips and the graphics looked great. I have always liked the Cryengine.
