I currently have MSI 890GXM and love it. for an matx it is loaded. I also liked the 890FX its bigger and more expandable. However, I was contemplating building a new AMD rig (I have no earthly reason why) and found this board
Mother Board ASRock 890FX Deluxe4 AM3 AMD 890FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AM It has a lot of features, I liked it better than the crosshair and it is only 160.00.

MSI's are great, but you just have to jump through too many hoops to update the bios for me. Others may find it simple.

I've had a couple of boards from ECS, both for AMD processors. The first was a Skt 939 and the second my current board (see my specs). Depending on what you intend to do, most manufacturers should be able to satisfy your needs.

One important factor that I take into account with motherboards is driver support for on-board features, such as audio and graphics, with more emphasis being placed on the audio component rather than the graphics since I add a dedicated graphics card but use the built-in audio capability. Personally, I would recommend a board that has Realtek HD Audio for that very reason. Others may disagree with me on this, and that is their perogative, but I've seen numerous threads about audio problems involving c-media, VIA, and other codecs where drivers are, in many cases, unobtainable. At least Realtek do update their drivers on a fairly regular basis.

As for what motherboard.... Gigabyte (what I have) seems to be vary popular these days. Although Asus has a large following as well.

When I chose my X58 (GA-X58A-UD5) board the selling points were USB 3.0 and SATA 6 gigs - though I suspect by the time I use SATA 6 I'll be ready for a new board.

Anyway I'm very happy with my Gigabyte board and would definitely buy again.

Last time I checked, they would not operate on X64 systems. Besides, most of the people on the MSI forums say not to use it.

Sorry for bringing up a post like this again, but what is the difference in the 870 880g 890gx im guessing there like north bridges, how do you picked out the board with those, I heard there for graphics anyone wanna fill me in?
