Hello Detailer,

I'm unfamiliar with that program, but their site says that it is under the "Troubleshooting" section at this link.

Q) Does RVS 2010 work with Windows 7?
A) Yes, RVS is fully compatible with both 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows 7.

You can also check for software and hardware compatibility with Windows 7 at the Microsoft link below.

Windows 7 Compatibility Center home

Hope this helps,
Shawn

They have forums here:

Official Returnil Support Forum - Wilders Security Forums

If you look in releases the last update was on Nov. 27. That would seem to indicate they have fixed most of the problems in the 2010 release.

I haven't tried it myself. I would advise still having some kind of image backup. If a really nasty malware should penetrate the protection, they usually attack the booting mechanism.. such as scrambling or deleting your MBR, or out and out erasing your system partition. The boot to fix everything method doesn't work if you can't boot.

But it could be a good tool esp. if you want to let others use your PC without them changing configurations. Another thing, if you are keeping the state of the machine static then you only need a few backups. This tool could cut down on how many image backups you feel you need to have in reserve.

I hear you. I'm holding off due to the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" theory of computer management. But what I do with these types of programs that mess with HD booting is look on the forums for awhile and try to get a feel if the problem reports are typical of a pretty reliable and stable software, of if they continue to come streaming in about systems that sound a lot like mine. That's about all you can do. That and have a way of undoing the changes if possible.
