Hey folks, this is a problem I've run into before and in the past, as I recall, I haven't been able to convince the system that I was indeed the admin and I should be allowed to perform the desired action.
In this case, I'm trying to install an application -- Corel's Paint Shop Pro v2022. After I first got the popup message, I started over, but this time I right clicked on the install program and chose "Run as Administrator." It didn't make a difference.
The actual message reads:
Error 1303. The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: c:\ProgramData\Corel\ Corel Paintshop Pro 2022. The installation cannot continue. Log on as an administrator or contact your system administrator.
I'm trying to install this program on my laptop and I am the only person who uses this laptop, therefore, I am the administrator. I am GOD on this computer. But it doesn't seem to matter.
I tried right clicking on the file and clicked on Properties to see if I could tweak privileges, but it already shows that I'm the administrator, so that wasn't much help. Next, I went to the ProgramData directory and tried changing permissions there. This ProgramData/Corel/Corel Paintsop Pro directory appears to be a temporary directory into which the installation files are stored.
So, got any ideas? Recommendations?
BTW, I was able to successfully install this program on my desktop, which is also running Win7, so I don't think it's a Win7 specific problem -- unless it is.

- I'm a musician and a composer, so this PC is used primarily as a digital audio workstation (DAW), so sound is king. I'm also a photographer, so I also make use of it for image processing. I find the ATI Radion on the MoBo to be perfectly adequate in this respect and the AOC 22" monitor to be respectable. It's about time for an upgrade, though.
