Are Both 32 & 64 bit version on one disk?

That's the screenshot I've seen before. I'm not crazy. Sweet.

orbit30's been combining x86 and x64 into a single disc that installs fine since the 6000 beta series, why can't ms do it? :P answer: $, regardless of how small a price the extra packaging costs maybe $2, shipping 3ish, so they get around $5 profit for each extra disc they ship out with no key. sure it may seem like nothing, but think about millions of extra discs shipped upon request, millions of people who get confused and just wind up buying a copy of x64 when they don't realize they need x86, and just dump more money into an x86 copy without realizing they can request a 'free' copy of the media.

more questionable tactics, yo. pretty standard for the business world, and ms in general.

Microsoft has done it in the past. They also might do it in Windows 7.
Rather early to say

Since Windows 7 Officially has not be released by MS.

I just did this, it worked great. I'm very happy.

cosmicsurfer,

I have not read this thread, but only your question.

The simple answer is YES.

With the help of 7-Zip, then the procedure is rather simple.

I did catch a glimpse of a long procedure and many commands. The procedure is actually quite easy and short. Let me know if you still need assistance.

Even though I am now done with this, using the long and many commands (and actually very impressed with the results), I would like to like to see how to do this with 7-Zip. I've been longtime user of 7-Zip and like it very much.

In the meantime, here is a picture of my results.

I started writing the procedure but give me a little more time to find my old writeup on this.

Does anyone know if both the 32 bit & 64 bit versions will be on One Disk?

I thought I read this somewhere.

If so, can one key be used with both versions?

In other words, can I upgrade straight from 32 to 64 from the same disk if I choose to do it at a later date?

Or will I have to get another disk and pay again?
CS

The retail family pack I purchased has 2 disks, 1 for 32 bit and the other 64 bit installation. The product key is the same for both. You cannot update from 32 bit to 64 bit without formatting the drive or, in other words, clean install.

duke,
You will be able to use the one disk.
The normal retail version has both 32 and 64 bit versions on the dvd.
You can use the same disk, however, not the same 25 character key.
That key is good for only one win 7 license unless you have a family pack license.
