This is an example. Are these old uninstall data files? I would like to delete larger ones. Any tips appreciated. Thank you in advance. Kevin

As a rule of thumb, NEVER delete (or modify, unless you really know what you're doing) any of the files in the c:\windows directory or subdirectories. I'm pretty sure uninstall data files will either be in c:\users\{your user name}\appdata somewhere, or maybe c:\program files. But c:\windows should only be for critical system files. Deleting things from here will likely crash your computer and require a complete reinstall of your OS. Is there any particular reason you think these files might be old uninstall data file? Personally, I don't even have any files named anything similar to that in c:\windows, so I don't know what they would be.

I believe they are either partially installed updates/hotfixes/SP's/etc... or ones that started to download and were not able to complete the installation process. You may want to check you updates to see if you have any that failed. (Start)>> type "wuapp.exe" (without the quotes) and press enter then click on the link with the title View Update History and scroll down the list to see if you are getting regular windows updates and that there are not any failure's listed in the results column.
