are the updates , integrataed to install.wim copied to existing files

Hi,
While inclluding updates to install.wim, it is integrated in to the install.wim.
Are the updates get included in the alreadyl exising files, by overwrting with the same name, there are so many, or
are they copied to the install.wim separately, so that we could find them as separate files.
Please also say what is software distribution folder in the windows directory.
There is no such directory found in install.wim

The updates get included in the already existing files - Yes
By overwriting with the same name - No and Yes

There are no Kbxxxxx.msu update files on Install.wim. A update (Kbxxxxx.msu) is a file (like a zip file) that has many files inside (exe, dll, ini etc).
When you integrate a Kbxxxxx.msu file to a Install.wim it will not replace a KB file, but will replace the existing exe, dll, ini with the ones inside the KB file. When it has been integrated, for what I know, it will leave no traces of what has been done and can't be undone.

Hi, Thanks megathir. Have seen your reply in my mobile and I thought of logging in computer to reply. It has taken a day time to log in to pc.
Excellent piece of information.
Kindly also let me know, is there any way of knowing which updates went correctly and which not, like we analyse sfc scan details with substr formula.
If suppose, an update is failed can, we again only those updates.
It is very difficult to find from dism log.
Moreover, if i or somebody, use dism, the dism log only contains the latest one and all others in a bak file.
Which has a lengthy data to know , which went right and which went wrong. please suggest
