SSD 32gb

Upgrade to win 10 from win 7 had been running fine, but then somehow became corrupted.

I tried to reinstall from my usb. The BIOS recognizes the usb but will not boot. The BIOS does not recognize the SSD.

I was able to boot with gparted, and format to Fat32. I still couldn't boot to the USB.

I was able to partially install ubuntu, but it failed near the end.

There is no DVD drive. I've tried an external USB DVD, using a retail copy of win 7, but the DVD is not seen.

I've used the DVD in the pass to install software.

I've also tried resetting the BIOS to default settings; I've changed the USB config to xchi, and any other manner of changes I can do.

Any help would be appreciated.

This type of eeebook may not be able to use Windows 10.
Eeebook had limited storage, as 32GB is not enough.
If you bought new, go to the service center to let them fix for you.
You are like not knowing much but keep doing the wrong way.
If i am you, i go back to them to fix for me.

Thanks Eric. The laptop originally had W7, and I did upgrade to W10. It worked fine for several weeks.

It crashed. I don't know why.

In any event, in the past I was able to recover back to the factory with my backup media.

However, this time it did not work. I tried re-formatting the SSD, and I think that might be the problem.

It's out of warranty by a couple of months, but I think I am the cause of the problem.

I just need to get past the bios. Even though I've been able to set the USB flash as the boot media, it just keeps going back to setup. The SSD is not recognized. I think that's the actual problem.

Maybe it is time to get a bigger storage SSD, as the pricing have drop a lot.

You could visit their Service Center to see if they know anything about Windows 10 related issue.

Even if the warranty had expired, you may able to get the Windows 7 Recovery DVDs from them.
The last time when my brother Toshiba laptop had HDD failed, i sent to the Service center.
At the same time, i request for another 2 others laptops for the Recovery Windows 7 disk.
I had to copy myself as they charge for the DVDs only.
If they do it, the staff said S$100 per laptop. (Singapore currency)
I did this way in order to not get Retail copy, as it is cheaper, and for long period whether to re-install again.

Well, you can do the same as i did.
As it is cheaper than buying Retail copy of Windows 7 OS, unless it come with the PC.

As for using SSD, do check here for more info, as i am going to do the same, but lazy to start.

Edit: Using the original Recovery disk is better as the drivers are all included.
