any suggestions? windows 7 doesn't even see the modem, and when I install the modem software from Asus's site, it doesn't do anything, it seems to get throught the installation but then just dissapears, never says "complete" or anything. still nothing under "modems" in device manager. the modem is made by LSI.

thanks so much in advance.

Try doing this - you need to install the driver in compatibility mode with the OS its written for eg for vista drivers install in compatibity mode with vista also make sure they are matched for either 64bit OS or 32 bit OS - to do this :
To install a driver OR program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with vista/xp etc - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.

Also make sure your your using whql drivers(CERTIFIED) for 64bit W7 as MICROSOFT has driver enforcement, and wont install the drivers unless they are signed (certified).
