Asus Monitor Suddenly Went Dark, Won't Turn Back On?

I've never worked on an ASUS monitor such as yours. As I stated, I googled your issue and found very, very little regarding your ASUS monitor, parts, or troubleshooting. I haven't found a schematic, which would be very helpful, although I will spend a little more time this evening searching. I'm at a loss on what else to suggest at this point.

Hi thanks for the response. But for other monitor brands, what steps would you take for something like this?


I'm obviously not going to throw it out. But maybe blow the ceiling fan at it or something like that? Im just trying to get some ideas etc.

What I find perplexing in your situation, is that when it happened before, leaving your monitor untouched for a period of time corrected the problem, as if a circuit breaker tripped and then reset. Weird.

You can remove the back of the panel, varies how to do this, sometimes, press-fit plastic locks, sometimes screws, torc bits, etc.

I can't find any video tutorials on your ASUS on this subject-matter either. Look over the parts, and see if you can locate a fuse panel, or similar. Google a bit and see what you can find.

Hi there. Yes when this happened, i basically put it untouched for more than 1.5 years etc. Then i took it and decided to plug it to outlet and it worked. Would that be related to a broken fuse or something like that? Or the circuit breaker?


Again not familiar with any of these terms. But the repair place last time did take a look and said well it can't be fixed etc.

Sounds more like a circuit breaker or maybe a break in the printed circuit board, the power outage still has me perplexed.

Was hoping that another forum member could work with us.

Hi there. Yes the power outage happened years ago and when it didn't turn back on, thats the only thing that makes sense.


But how does it work again after not touching it for close to 2 years then? Because few years ago when this happened, repair shop said its no good and can't be repaired.


Definitely would like if anyone who knows a lot of monitors can explain this.

Hi paulyjames, even if it is 2 years old post just wanted to share. My ASUS monitor (VW246H) is doing the same thing after the power outage. First time around I was stressed out that the monitor is broken. But after a week I pressed the power on button and the monitor started to work as if nothing happened. Now it usually takes 3 days. Then I try to power on the monitor. If it is not working yet I give it another day or two. The monitor is on the power surge protection and it still happens (it happened cca 4-5 times by now). Still not sure if the problem is the power going off or when the power comes back.

We had power outage. System was on a UPS when I shut down. The next day the monitor power light would not even illuminate. The monitor power supply or a fuse got damaged?

Hi, maybe you are right and something is wrong with your monitor. But I would say there is 90% chance that no real damage happened. From my experience you are going to be without that monitor for few days only. Just leave it be for 2-3 days if possible and then try to power on. If it does not work try to reattach the power supply cable. If it still does not work give it another 1-2 days. It should work as usual by then. I know it is no explanation but that works for me. Last time it happened to me in November 2020 when I posted my experience. Then it took 4 days for the monitor to work again. From what I read the users with ASUS 24' monitors (not sure how many models) experience failure after the power outage.

I have the exact same monitor. Was checking the circuit breaker panel and cut power to the room. The monitor is on a surge protector but not UPS. Now nothing when I press power button. 9 good years. I'll try it again in a few days

And the monitor is back on 2 days later! Guess I'll return its replacement when it gets here. Thought it was too good to be possible. Thanks for the thread!!
