ASUS Motherboard - Detects headphones but no sound

Recently bought and installed a ASUS P5kpl-am EPU motherboard and it's all working dandy apart from the sound. I installed the drivers from the official asus website for the board which is the VIA Audio codecs and software and it detects both my microphone and headphones but neither will work. What should I do?

Have you tried downloading directly from Realtek?

I tried that first yes. However, the installation didn't seem to actually install the files into my program files even though it looked as though it had during installation. The VIA audio drivers from a google search or two look like they're the ones that work for my motherboard.

Update: In the VIA audio manager I can hear myself back from my microphone when enabling speaker playback so both the microphone and headphones are working, but not for anything else.

SOLVED: Installed the latest version from the actual VIA website and all is working.
