Solved Asus Vs. Gigabyte...help??

With all that said besides those two MB's I've also been thinking about just jumping in with Asus top dog ... Asus Maximus IV Extreme... after witching a video about it!

I have looked at that board and watched a few videos on it, looks like a beast! (Might even be over my head but I'll learn )
Really thinking about going with it now. Do you happen to know anymore about it?

I really thank you for all your help and input, I know you have seen my other threads on this build(I've redone it enough times...lol) but I think I'm getting very close to the final parts Damn picking parts is hard, especially when the parts are just weeks old.

I just bought the Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3P, and I am quite happy with it. Are there features in the higher end Gigabyte board you need that mine doesn't have...because I believe my board is quite a bit cheaper. Asus and Gigabyte are both top-of-the-line quality, so you can't go wrong there.

There's not a lot of point in agonizing about it, but agonizing goes along with being geekish. It's part of being obsessive.

I'd just;

1: Compare the feature sets carefully. One might have a usable feature the other lacks--eSATA, front panel audio, etc

2: Look for oddball stuff in the board layout that might have an effect, particularly for clearance issues--maybe a big cooler would overhang and interfere with RAM slots, for instance.

3: Flip a coin to the extent they have identical features, price, and layout.

4: Pray you never have to interact with customer support from either company.

5: Pray some more that you are lucky enough to get a good example of the particular board and that there are no undiscovered design flaws.

The touting you see for one brand rather than the other comes from those who have had a good experience with that brand. That's just an anecdote and shouldn't play any part in your decision. I had a bad Asus experience and so am considering only Gigabyte and Intel for a Sandy Bridge build. You should ignore that tidbit as well.

So I guess that means opinions don't count - Granted you should take thme with a grain of salt but still....

Anyway I agree with the first 2 points. Points 4 & 5 can be applied to every and anything.
