Recently my laptop fan did not start, and I was unsure of what to do. I shut down my laptop and came back to it a few hours later, and it worked again.

But now it has happened again, and I would like to fix it before my laptop makes scrambled processor.

I found suggestions that I should boot to BIOS and turn the fan onto maximum. Sadly, I could not find anything to do with the fan on the BIOS. I have downloaded SpeedFan, and it reports that my fan is doing around 2800-3000 RPM. It does not sound like that however, I cannot even hear it.

I have never cleaned my fan, and am unsure of how to, because I think it will probably involve taking my laptop apart.

Would the best solution be to operate on my laptop? I have opened up a desktop before to do maintenance, but laptops are harder. Or would it just be easiest to take it to someone? I would prefer to do it myself, as I would enjoy learning how to and I would not have to wait, but letting someone else do it is safer.
