Solved ati radeon 7200 BSOD at power down

Hello, hope someone can help. I'm running an oldish pc with the above graphics card and win7.
All seemed well but I noticed that some displays were slow to load on certain web pages and Windows Experience Index gave the graphics a rating of 1.0. I checked in Device Manager and found that the graphics driver was running the Windows default driver.
After researching some chat forums, I discovered that there were no drivers for this graphics card for Win 7, but one suggested downloading an XP driver and manually installing it. I did this and all seemed fine, now see in Device Manager: Radeon 7000 series driver, version 6.14.10.0.313. However, when shutting down/restarting the pc or if it is left idle I get a Blue Screen of Death, which requires manual intervention to shut down the pc.
I downloaded BluescreenView which tells me that the problem is linked to the ati2dvag.dll with terminal_server_driver_made incorrect_memory_reference.
More researching of forums indicates there are a host of entries for this dll. I followed some leads: downloaded supposed win 7 driver and ran setup.exe. this completed successfully but the driver was unchanged. Tried uninstalling the driver, but windows re-installed the same driver on startup. I downloaded a different version of the dll, replaced the old but regsvr32 failed to run in elevated command mode, so replaced with the original dll.
So, here we are, the graphics work better but I keep getting the BSOD. I'm hesitant to download one of these tools recommended by some techie forums that are supposed to rectify all things known to man because I don't trust them/their motivation. However, if some one can recommend a utility to download that will fix this problem then happy to change my views.

Hi, glad to have you on board, I'm grateful for your help.
I used a utility called Bluescreenview to get the details, I have put the details of one minidump into a word doco which has hopefully uploaded. Let me know if this is insufficient.

Please upload the actual dmp files, you can find those files by opening File Explorer(this ain't IE), type this into the address bar: %SYSTEMROOT%/Minidump

Looking at the data in the document the AMD display drivers are suspicious, but we'll need an actual dump file to confirm it.
Software like Bluescreenview and WhoCrashed aren't very reliable so we can't really trust the data they provide which is why we need a dump for confirmation.

I used the tool in the forum and the zipped folder is below. It looks like it has collected all the minidumps.

Unfortunately it is only the dumps that are present, there are about 19 other files added when running the tool and these missing files are important.
However, when looking at the BIOS (dated 2004) and your motherboard support page it can be said that there are compatibility issues, even if you're running Windows 7 for some time.

Hello axe0, thanks for the reply.
I used the DM Log Collector tool to collect the info you wanted, I watched all the steps in the command line window and all completed ok. At the end there is a message which tells you that the info has been saved to a zipped folder on the desktop, this is what I uploaded. I have run it again today and it did exactly the same thing, the folder only contains dmp files, nothing else. The command line window doesn't tell you where all the other copied files are put otherwise I would upload them as well ... sorry, just doing what I'm told as I don't know any better.
I have run the tool to collect the system info and used the auto process to upload the details to My Specs. It looks ok, although the tool doesn't seem to collect everything.
Grateful for all your help and worried about BIOS/motherboard disparity.

Hello axe0, hope you managed to get a rest over Easter.
Just to check are you saying the my problem is caused by compatibility issues between the bios and the motherboard? I had a quick look and updates for this bios don't seem to be easy to come by?

I think the problem is incompatibility with Windows 7 and your hardware (motherboard and/or possible other components).

Hello axe0, thanks for the input. What would you do in my place. This only came about because I updated the drivers on the graphics card, shall I try a new graphics card as I'm loathe to move on from Windows 7. Hopefully, I wont have to replace the pc even though it is old?

Old hardware may fail suddenly, you need to keep an eye on the health and status of your hardware where you can if you're not planning on replacing.

Hello axe0, I really appreciate you taking the time to check out the problems I'm having.

Sorry to be thick, but I want to get my head round what you are saying before I close this thread down.

From what you have seen it is the installation of W7 on the motherboard/bios combination in my pc that is causing the BSOD (I thought W7 did compatibility checks before installation?) and nothing to do with the updating of the graphics adapter driver that I carried out?
There is nothing I can do ie upgrading the bios (if possible), changing the graphics adapter, or upgrading the os that will correct the situation, the only thing to do is to replace the pc?

Your motherboard is incompatible with Windows 7, your BIOS cannot be updated to a version compatible for Windows 7.
There is no certainty that incompatibility has anything to do with the cause or being the cause, but it can and in most cases will complicate things and could make it impossible to fix the problems you're experiencing.
